How Felren works
Felren helps you decide what to buy. It notices what you need, suggests restocks before you run out and, when you approve a purchase, prepares the checkout so you only press the final button. Three things inform each decision.
- Your preferences
- It remembers what you have bought and learns your sizes, brands and tastes. A Facts page shows what it has learned, so you can flag anything wrong.
- Your relationships
- It arranges the people you are close to in rings, from the handful you talk to every week to the people you are drifting from, with a short summary of each relationship, so it knows who a purchase is for.
- Your digital presence
- It works from the sources you choose to turn on: iMessage, WhatsApp, iPhone and WhatsApp calls, Contacts, your browser history and open tabs, a companion Chrome extension, and Gmail.
How Felren uses Gmail
If you connect a Gmail account, Felren asks Google for read-only access to it. It never sends, deletes or changes your email. It reads your mail for features you can see in the app:
- Your purchases: order, receipt and shipping emails become your purchase history, the Purchases drawer and restock suggestions.
- Your rings: for accounts where you turn on Context, the people you email, and how often, help place them on your relationship rings.
Before Google’s consent page opens, the app shows you what it will read and how it is handled. Email text is processed by our AI provider, OpenAI, which does not train on it, and is stored encrypted with a key specific to you. Gmail data is never sold, never used for ads, and never used to train general-purpose AI models. Disconnecting an account revokes Felren’s access at Google, and deleting your account erases your data from our systems; what OpenAI is still holding to detect abuse is deleted on its own schedule (see retention and deletion). Read the Google user data section of our privacy policy and how to manage your Gmail data.
Privacy
Felren reads only the sources you connect. Your data travels encrypted, your message content is encrypted at rest with a key specific to you, and no one at Felren reads it without your permission. We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising. You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time. The full details are in our privacy policy.
